The heavy metal gods in top form. The British hard rock and heavy metal icons recorded the record in Paris with their longtime producer Kevin Shirley. Steve Harris acted as co-producer. A total of ten songs made it onto "Senjutsu". With a playing time of just under 82 minutes, the album comes, like its predecessor, as a double CD or triple vinyl album.

The term "Senjutsu" comes from the Japanese and means freely translated "tactics and strategy". For the cover design, Iron Maiden once again engaged Mark Wilkinson, who designed the motif me samurai theme based on an idea by Steve Harris.
